# Your journal is not your daily diary

This is the most common mistake people make, but you shouldn’t. Don’t write unnecessary details of your day in your journal. It has very few benefits and will not help you achieve the full potential of journaling. Instead, write your thoughts, ideas, anxieties, etc. Writing down your feelings helps clear your mind and helps you focus on the present task.
